A response to a question posed in Parliament disclosed that there are 54 cases that are awaiting decision before the Constitution Benches of the Supreme Court. There are 38 five-judge bench matters, 9 seven-judge bench matters, and 7 nine-judge bench matters among them. Interestingly, between 2020 and 2023, just 25 cases of this type were resolved. In response to a query in Parliament by Alappuzha Lok Sabha MP and Advocate AM Ariff, Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal disclosed this information. Ariff requested information on matters that were ongoing before the Supreme Court's various Constitution Benches as well as a list of cases that the Constitution Bench had heard and decided over the years, broken down by decade, since the Court's founding.
